Objective
Restoration of the agricultural and zootechnical of the Kaza of Tyr (sour) (Qana), with particular attention to environmental issues.
Expected Results
Recovery of tree areas through the substitution of
damaged or lost trees and the structural improvement of
the soil, with more efficient water retention.
Restored cattle and goat breeding, with healthy
animals, an improved technical-economical management
and their own milk processing chain. Marketing of their
products strengthened.
Bee farming restored and honey production chain
strengthened, with the creation of new equipped
laboratories.

The cooperative of Deir Qanoun El Ain (Kaza of Tyr, South-Lebanon) started in 1998 as an initial idea between twelve women to start producing nutritive and healthy food for their families in their homes. The women took the initiative to contact the YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association) and asked for trainings on food production. With time, the women attended food exhibitions and realized that they had the potential to participate in such events.
This project is a part of ROSS Emergency Program "Emergency Initiative for Rehabilitation, Occupation, Services and Development". Its objectives is the restoring of the agricultural sectors (fish, cattle and bees) particularly significant in the Kaza of Hermel.
