First meeting of animators held in Picardie north of Paris, from 7 to 12 September 2009

Held in Picardie north of Paris, from 7 to 12 September 2009 with the support of Office Franco-Allemand pour la Jeunesse (OFAJ) and Solidarité Laïque. Participants were youth from Lebanon (Solidarity and Development Association), Germany (Jugendwerk der AWO Berlin) and France (Les Francas).

The main objective of this meeting is to strengthen intercultural exchange among the participants on the cultural and social activities that they use with children in the three countries. Aim is to develop the skills and knowledge of young people, and to promote the cultural activities in each country. To conclude this project, Lebanon and Germany will host another two meetings in 2010.

  • The Sixth Francophone games that will be held in Beirut from September 27th until October 6th 2009
    Lebanon has offered to all French-speaking countries a magnificent opening ceremony, held Sunday, September 27, 2009 at the Camille Chamoun Sports City, attended by Mr François Fillon, French Prime Minister, Mrs Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, Minister of Health and Sports and Mr. Alain Joyandet, Secretary of State for Cooperation and Francophonie. The ceremony marked the opening of a week of sporting and cultural activities between all the delegations from the Francophone world composed of talented athletes and artists. Extrait de la cérémonie d'ouverture - Jeux de la Francophonie The Francophone games are held every 4 years, with the participation of around 3,000 athletes, youths and artists from 56 French speaking countries and also 14 observer countries. It is a high level sport and art festival and popular event. Lebanon has been chosen to host the Sixth Francophone Games, which will be held in Beirut (Lebanon) from 27th of September to 6th of October 2009.

  • Official Celebration of the Francophone International Day in Beirut on 20th of March 2009
    The Francophone International Day is dedicated to the French language that unites 200 million speakers in the world and brings together 870 million persons in 70 states and governments members of the Francophone International Organization. In the presence of Abdou Diouf, Secretary General of Francophone, the official celebration will take place on 20th of March 2009 in Beirut (Lebanon), which is considered to be the city of diversity and dialogue among cultures and the hosting country of the Francophone games of 2009 fall.

  • Franco-Lebanese Municipalities Forum in Neuilly-sur-Seine
    As part of the 4th Franco-Lebanese Forum of Municipalities, Jean-Christophe Fromantin (Mayor of Neuilly-sur-Seine) and the municipality hosted 15 presidents of municipalities from Lebanon on Nov 18, 2008. Visit included a City car tour, reception by First Deputy and a presentation on municipality's policy given by Christophe Aulnettes.

  • Project to establish an information technology library in Aaraiya (2007-2009)
    In 2007, the city of Cholet, focusing on the promotion of culture, launched a second program of local urban development. Aim is to create within the village of Aaraiya, an information technology library in Arabic and French.

  • August 2007: GUIRAB at the Interceltic Festival of Lorient
    This summer, GUIRAB band – the Palestinian refugee musical band of Burj Ech Chemali camp participates for the second time in Interceltic Festival of Lorient. Official meetings, music playing, leisure activities and training were included in this event.
