Kaza of Koura

The kaza of Koura is the one six kazas of the mohafazah of North-Lebanon. It consists of coastal plain situated in the South of the city of Trablous (Tripoli), which is overhang by 800 metres height hills. It is bounded in the North and in the northeast by the kaza of Trablous ( Tripoli) and kaza of Zgharta, in the East by the kaza of Bcharreh, and in the South by the kaza of Batroun. Its surface amounts to 1,9 square kilometres.

Its population is esteemed to 68 160 inhabitants, what amounts to 1,6 % of the total population of Lebanon, distributed on 45 villages, among which only 34 have elected town councils.

The administrative center of the kaza is the village of Amioun, snuggled up in the shade of the fields of olive trees. Among its villages we count Kousba the mountainous, characterized by the beauty of its nature and its archaeological vestiges.

The lands which extend between Kousba and Qalamoun are covered with fields of olive trees, which constitute a part of the economic life of the inhabitants of the kaza.
