This project utilizes Canadian expertise to assist Lebanon in its efforts to revitalize its economy and re-establish conditions for people to earn an income and rebuild their livelihoods following the 2006 conflict. The project assists the National Employment Authority in developing systems to provide productive employment for Lebanese men and women, especially in areas where the labour market situation is unfavorable.

The Resident Representative of UNDP in Lebanon Marta Ruedas, and the Italian ambassador in Lebanon Gbrieli Kekya, signed an agreement for the implementation of a project on «the advancement and development in the surrounding municipalities of Nahr al-Bared camp». This project is financed by the Italian government for a total budget of 1 million two hundred thousand euros.

Signing a charter of cooperation between the town of Cholet and the municipality of Araiya - 18 December 2003
The Municipality of Aaraiya (Kadaa of Baabda) and the town of Cholet (in la Loire region), being sister cities since 1999, have agreed on joint actions specified in the Charter of cooperation signed in December 2003. Today, Lebanese youth of Aaraiya have a sports hall which was renovated under the contribution of the city of Cholet.

The main objectives of the project include: building, modernising, and strengthening the institutional capacities of the Ministry of Economy and Trade in designing and formulating trade, ICT, SMEs, Quality, economic & trade policies.

Based on the recommendations of the regional development strategy and its socio-economic development components, UNDP and CDR jointly launched a programme of support for post-conflict socio-economic rehabilitation in Southern Lebanon. Interventions are implemented by the Programme in cooperation with local actors and implementing agents. In its initial phase of operation, the Programme focuses on several sectors of intervention.
